Saturday, September 3
12pm – REDEEMER UNIVERSITY COLLEGE campus officially opens to ALL new students.
12pm - 4:00pm Check-in Process (Academic Building)
All new students are invited to complete a simple check-in process located in the main building (follow the signs). Those students in residences are also invited to meet their Resident Advisor and move into residence.
3:00pm Circle of Parents (Room 210)
All parents of first year students are invited to attend this meaningful hour with the Dean of Students and members of the Student Life Department. There will be opportunity to ask questions and to share your hopes and dreams with one another. The hour will be concluded with a time of prayer.
12pm – 4pm Drop-in activities around campus.
Join in some pick-up sports/games in the quad. Watch competitive soccer taking place on the North Field as the Royal Cup takes place. Wander campus and relax in the Rec Centre.
3:00pm Commuting Students Meeting (Rec Centre)
Join other commuting students for a brief introduction and information session, then head over together to the Welcome BBQ.
4:00pm – 5:30pm Welcome BBQ (Front Quad)
There is a BBQ in the Quad for all new students AND their parents/guardians and families. Now that you are checked-in and moved-in, let us celebrate together. There will be a prayer of blessing for the new students and their families at the end of the BBQ before final good-byes are given.

All first-year students are asked to gather with their LAUNCH Team. These teams have been organized based on where you are living or by which commuter group you are a member. In case it is raining, please meet in the assisgned classroom.

Welcome to Redeemer! As a LAUNCH Team, you will join other new students in the Auditorium to meet the rest of the Class of 2019. We’ll hang out for a couple of hours, learn more about LAUNCH, Redeemer, and play some cool games to get to know each other. The Cooper Cup (awarded to one team at the end of orientation) will also be on display. Your team can earn points towards winning it.

Your first gathering as a dorm! These meetings are mandatory for all first year students living on campus. Dorm meetings for the rest of the first week will be explained to you by your RA.

Now that the first day of orientation complete, it's not yet time to go home. Sleep over on campus for the first night and enjoy getting to know some of your new class-mates better.

Join fellow Redeemer students in the auditorium for a time of communal worship to start off the year. Members of the various Redeemer worship teams as well as the chaplain will be leading this service.
11:00am - 12:00pm Commuter Student Campus Tour
The Commuter Advisors will be providing a custom campus tour that highlights all the hints and tips to being a successful commuter on campus.
12:00pm – 1:00pm Lunch in the dorms
1:00pm – 4:30pm Hamilton Harbour Trip.
It’s time to explore a bit more of the Hamilton area as a dorm, and Mission Control has planned a relaxing outing for you to the Hamilton Harbour. There are plenty of parks and walking trails, so bring Frisbees, footballs, cards, or anything else needed to enjoy Hamilton’s beautiful waterfront.
4:30pm – 6:30pm Cooking Together!
All first-year students living on campus are required to be in their residences for a special time with their dorm mates as you cook your first meal together.

Join us for this great Redeemer tradition. Relax playing Euchre, Settler’s, Spoons or try a game you’ve never played before.

Each year, Redeemer runs a fun soccer league on Thursday nights in the Dome. This will give you a taste of what that might be like to join. All skill levels invited.

At Redeemer, community service is an integral part of your education. Join your LAUNCH team in delivering food drive invitations to your route in the Meadowlands neighbourhood. Pay attention because you will be returning to this route on Friday evening to collect bags and bags of food.
1:45pm ALL LAUNCH TEAMS should meet in Calvin Court (1st parking lot) to be organized for marching into the Opening Ceremonies of the LAUNCH Olympics.
2:00pm LAUNCH Olympics Begin!
Join your LAUNCH Team for the annual, unforgettable LAUNCH Olympics! Wear old clothes and old shoes (shoes must be either sneakers or sandals that fasten and do not slip off) -- you just might get a little dirty! Points for the Cooper Cup are awarded at this event for team spirit so it’s important that you attend. If it is inclement weather, the LAUNCH Olympics will occur on Saturday, September 12 at 10 a.m.

Relax after an active day by watching a movie while chilling on the comfy couches in the Rec Centre.

Learning Communities are groups of students and faculty from a particular academic discipline.

For those in Residence, feel free to head back to your dorm and grab a bite to eat. Make sure you are in your residence at exactly 1:00 p.m. as there may be a task required of you that will earn your LAUNCH team lots of points!

The entire Redeemer University College community will join in celebration and worship to begin the new academic year. President Krygsman will lead the worship and the faculty will enter dressed in their academic regalia. Feel free to invite family and friends.

This BBQ is for all students, faculty and staff and their families to celebrate the beginning of a new academic year.

If your dorm signs up to participate, your dorm will be assigned as a “mystery” dorm to either host dinner or be a guest for dinner. Inviting a dorm over for dinner is a long-standing tradition at Redeemer. The host dorm provides the salad and main course for 16 people. The guest dorm makes dessert for everybody and stays to do the dishes. A Mission Control person will deliver the number of the dorm you will attend at 4:30 p.m.

Bring your voices for a time of worship and fellowship in the Rec Centre. Student Senate Spiritual and Service Committee (SASC) present the first monthly “Hot Spot” time of worship.

Explore opportunities to get involved in the Hamilton community and obtain more info about churches to attend. Various organizations and churches will have displays set up in the commons. Connect with organizations to find out how you can help, and talk to pastors/church leaders to find a church community you can be a part of.
5:30pm Redeemer Food Drive for Neighbour to Neighbour (Rec Centre)
LAUNCH Teams will collect food along a designated route in the Meadowlands community. Residents have been notified that you are coming. This is a great opportunity for new students to introduce themselves to the surrounding community. NOTE: Please wear your Redeemer t-shirt for this event. We ask that LAUNCH teams do not wear their team colours off-campus. Coloured bandanas can be confusing for the community and may have connections to groups that we are not associated with. NOTE: If it is inclement weather, the collection time will be moved to Saturday, September 12 at 10:00am.

Dress up, go retro and boogie the night away with old and new friends. The Decade Dance has been a tradition at Redeemer for over 20 years!

Come see what varsity athletics is all about at Redeemer and cheer on your Redeemer royals. You will see that even though you aren’t on the playing field, you are an integral part of the team as a fan. Being part of any team takes practice, so this first game is a great introduction and opportunity to practice the various songs, chants and team-spirit you’ll need as the Royals make a run for the play-offs.

After you’ve seen the women’s game, stick around for the men’s game as well.
6pm-12:30am Hamilton Supercrawl Trip
Sign up for the bus to go with Mission control down to James St. North to this local festival which includes live music, visual art, theatre, food, crafts and much more. Supercrawl has quickly become Hamilton’s premier festival. Meet at the Athletics Entrance at 6pm to head down. There will be a bus heading back to Redeemer at 12:15am. Don’t forget cash for Hamilton’s legendary food trucks.

CrossCulture is a one-day service project that introduces students to organizations making a difference, engaging them with the connection between justice and worship. It provides a place for Young Adults from the Hamilton area to gather together downtown to worship through song, prayer, storytelling, and service in the community. Students will gain exposure to urban poverty realities, serve with Hamilton community organizations, and gain an understanding of how geography and mission collide while worshipping, learning and serving at community organizations with fellow students. 9am – 5pm CrossCulture
CrossCulture is a one-day service project that introduces students to organizations making a difference, engaging them with the connection between justice and worship. It provides a place for Young Adults from the Hamilton area to gather together downtown to worship through song, prayer, storytelling, and service in the community. Students will gain exposure to urban poverty realities, serve with Hamilton community organizations, and gain an understanding of how geography and mission collide while worshipping, learning and serving at community organizations with fellow students. Ancaster Fair - Each year, the town of Ancaster gathers to enjoy a weekend of rides, food, animals, and competitions. Also, there are smash-up derbies Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. There are HSR shuttle buses from the Meadowlands shopping area. For more information visit: www.ancasterfair.ca

1pm – 4pm Toronto Blue Jays vs. New York Yankees (Rogers Centre)
Redeemer is sending a bus-load of fans to one of the final Blue-Jays games of the season. Ticket and transportation is $30 and the bus leaves campus at 11am.
